I thought the lady said it was ok to use but after reading about it I realized i'm not supposed to use flat paint for my bathroom walls. I only did a small portion when I stopped so what do I do now? I primed the walls already but that small portion do I need to strip it? Or can I just buy some new paint specifically for the bathroom and go over it?New to painting and I used flat paint on my bathroom walls. How do I fix this?
Finish at least the wall you were painting. You CAN use flat paint in a bathroom, although a paint with sheen (eggshell, satin, semigloss) is usually applied. The more sheen, the easier it is to clean the wall. The flat paint will accept the next coat very well. However, stopping in the middle of the wall may cause the cold joint to flash. Higher gloss paints will show defects in the wall more than flatter paints. Hope this helps.New to painting and I used flat paint on my bathroom walls. How do I fix this?
no prob, just go get semigloss and repaint with that. No need to prep the spot you've already painted unless you plan on using a lighter color than you initially thought you wanted to use with the flat paint.
Hi,
You should be fine painting over the flat with a satin or semi gloss finish. The reason flat isn't normally used is that it has no scrub-ability. The other finishes are easily cleaned. Hope this helps.
