We just painted our bathroom - and the paint is ';splitting/cracking'; - why?

We applied one coat of Kilz to help control any mold/mildew. Then, we painted on 2 coats of of good quality paint. Now the walls are showing many hairline cracks in the paint (appears to be the painted splitting) all over - we don't know what to do. This was not a problem before we painted. Any advise or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! We just painted our bathroom - and the paint is ';splitting/cracking'; - why?
it sounds like you applied an oil based paint over an acrylic or vice versa...We just painted our bathroom - and the paint is ';splitting/cracking'; - why?
the paint may not be holding up to the humid air in the bathroom..do you have a window or ventilation?
kilz is an oil. you more than likely used a latex on top. THAT should not matter. In fact that would be what I recomend especially if you just removed wallpaper.

If it's too humid the paint can not adhear corectly. If not than you might need to look into sheetrock.

Go back to the paint store and tell them what happend.

If it's a Sherwin Williams dealer, then this happens all the time. I suggest not using their paint.
The walls need to be skim coated or re sheetrocked. When the sheetrock gets old, or even if it gets hot and cold, the house contracts. Get it skim coated, it's cheaper than resheetrocking and it looks nice and even. Also eggshell paint will make the bumps more noticable.
