Bathroom paint is pealing?

we are renting a house that has been all redone...the bathroom paint is starting to peal in several areas and there is a slight mold starting to develop....there is no vent in the bathroom...could this be the problem? What is causing this?Bathroom paint is pealing?

it could be moisture but with out looking at it I would say someone painted latex paint over oil paint
Yes, there is too much moisture in the bathroom. You need to vent the room with an exhaust fan - somewhat expensive to install and if you are renting the landlord may not want to pay. You might be able to open a window, but it may be difficult in the winter. I wouldn't worry too much about surface mold. Wash the area with a mixture of water and bleach to kill the mold. In the short term, I'd leave my bathroom door open as much as possible to dissipate the moisture to other areas of the house. You might also try a portable dehumidifier in the bathroom. You could also take it with you when you move. So go ask the landlord for the exhaust fan and buy the dehumdifier if that fails.

surface not prepped first sanding or an under coat/ steam in bathroom can cause this there are paints for areas too! ask at local home store how fix1 then (renting ) send bill to landlord or cost off monthly bill include reason make copyies of cost product and time! foe backup evidance!
i use a small electric heater with a thermostat that will let it turn on and off by itself to keep the moisture out of my bathroom. bathroom has a window but no vent. also have a ceiling fan that only circulates air in the summertime to eliminate the moisture. you can also help the situation by not using real hot water when taking a shower. hot yes, steaming no.


paid $15.00 for the electric heater at a store called family dollar. look around most all stores that might sell that kind of unit would have them.. maybe even k-mart. turn it on and let the room get a little warm, then turn the thermostat till the heater shuts off. then stop adjusting the thermostat. the heater will go on and off by itself. unplug it every time you use and don't use the switch to turn it on or off. that way the setting stays right where you want it. have used this system for thirty years now. does a respectable job. remember hot, but not steaming. make sure the heater has a thermostat.

First off, you should go see a doctor if your poo stinks soo bad that it makes the paint peel! secondly you are having ventilation issues. try leaving the door open more or get a small fan to circulate the air in there. you also need to kill the mold to stop it from growing. Bleach in a spray bottle works really well for this.
Yes you need a fan in there. If thats not possible and you have a window, keep it cracked while you shower. If theres no window keep the door open. Your landlord should take care of this for you especially if you tell him mold is growing in HIS house because he wont put a fan in.
Yes you probably do have a moisture problem but there is probably a problem with the paint also. Your landlord probably used the cheapest, lowest quality paint that he could get and it was more than likely a flat wall paint. If I were painting it I would have used a good quality semi-gloss enamel paint.
