Bathroom walls painted with marine paint?

My landlord just told me he was repainting my bathroom walls with white marine paint. This sounds like a bad idea to me. Wont it be extremely glossy? Is he just creating a big mess?Bathroom walls painted with marine paint?
It will be easier to clean, but will be glossy, and really difficult to paint over with household paint. Unless he happens to have some left over from painting his boat, this is not a better option than buying the correct paint, which is likely cheaper and definitely better suited. The correct paint is gloss or semi-gloss.Bathroom walls painted with marine paint?
I think you need to concern yourself with the chemicals it may put out more than the glossy nature of it. It's meant to be used outside on a boat that goes in water.

I think you might want to consider checking with a manufacturer for appropriate applications.

Maybe you could offer to paint the bathroom yourself to ';save him time'; and just give him the receipt and take it off the rent?

Is he trying to avoid a mold issue? (that would be unhealthy too)

Good luck!
I wouldn't use marine paint inside. The fumes alone will not have enough ventilation and could cause a health/fire hazard.

Plus, you would not be able to paint over it without a ton of sanding first.

It would be better to use a glossy interior paint to help with the moisture of a bathroom, or an oil based interior paint.
That's not a good idea if he expects you to keep paying rent. That stuff smells awful. Is he going to put you up in a hotel while he does this? Suggest to him a Kitchen %26amp; Bath enamel. It works just fine and comes with an enhanced mildicide. If he's going to pay for your hotel stay then let him do it then it's his place. I just hope he's not expecting you to deal with that smell while he's doing it though.
That's a good idea actually. Bathrooms get steamy a lot, and marine paint would be good for that. It's hard to paint over, but that's not your problem.
