How much would be pay a painter to paint a bathroom in Los Angeles area?

I was quoted 475, including wall repair, clean up, and paint. He said it would take three days to do job. There is all paper he will need to strip. He does not have a license, but was recommended by a wall paper hanger. She said most painters out here don't have license. How much would be pay a painter to paint a bathroom in Los Angeles area?
It depends on how big your bathroom is. If he gives you a flat fee for wallpaper removal then that's pretty good. However, his price may reflect a poor job on removal. Because it's not just removal of paper, it's also making sure that most of the glue is removed and then sealing it with an oil base primer. I charge time and material for wallpaper removal because of the process it takes to do it right. A lot of painters like to cut corners. Just be careful!! I would ask the painter what his process is and then make a judgment call. But overall it's good to get three different estimates. How much would be pay a painter to paint a bathroom in Los Angeles area?
first of all this license thing is nothing but a bunch of crap. i have been a professional painter for over 25 years and have never needed any kind of a license. second of all if this person has to strip wallpaper prep everything then paint he is way too low. oh and scott knows nothing.

any good painter would know that you only need to apply a coat of alkyd primer if you are going to re wallpaper and plus im from Canada and even i know that all solvent based paints have been banned in the state of california for years so why would you tell her that.

Sorry but I wouldn't have a non licensed or non bonded contractor do any work for me for any reason. It's a kiss of death. I also do not believe that most painters are unlicensed and bonded in your area. Look in the Yellow Pages under painters. I am sure all those listed are and state as much. Sounds like someone is giving you a line of you know what. Frankly unless you are talking about a huge master bath $475 sounds ridiculously high.
I am a painter and especially without a license that sounds like a ridiculously high price. I would say it would have to depend on the size of your bathroom and how much wallpaper there is to strip. In a regular size bathroom i would say the price should be about half of what he quoted you. Wish i lived there- i would do it for you.
Don't use a person without a license! I speak from experience!!!!!

I think the quote is on the high side, too. How big is your bathroom? How many windows will be involved in the paint job? The only thing that does sound ok is the length of time he'll be there. 3 days sounds like a reasonable length of time to complete the task.

Again, don't use someone who does not have a license!!!!!!! All it will do is cause you pain and suffering if anything goes awry!!!!!!!!!
How much wall repair? I am a painter originally from Riverside County, CA, and I would probably charge $250.00.
that sounds about right for 3 days work
