I found out I am pregnant today and painted my bathroom yesterday? Did I hurt the baby with the paint fumes?

I used latex paint and was in the bathroom for 3 or 4 hours. I used Valspar Paint and noticed they used ethylene glycol in it. Now I am very happy to be pregnant but I am scared I did something wrong yesterday. Did it hurt the development of the foetus? Probably not. I worked in hog barn with high carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide, and other harmful gases during my first trimester. My son is a week shy of 3 months and perfectly healthy. I was later put on disability due to the hard labour involved with the job.I found out I am pregnant today and painted my bathroom yesterday? Did I hurt the baby with the paint fumes?
ITA with the others. don't worry about it. I asked my OB, and she said you're fine as long as the room is well ventilated. like the other person said, the paints are made safer nowadays.

It's sort of like the woman who's been drinking and finds out she's pregnent... It certainly was not a HELP, but a one-time exposure is likely to have negligable effect on the baby.





But now that you know you are pregnant, avoid the fumes in the future by either not painting, or get a resperator that handle the paint fumes (the ones with the cartrages and sell at places like Lowe's and Home Depot for around $35-50).
I'm pretty sure you and the baby will be fine. Mention it to the doctor at your next visit. I wouldn't worry too much...too much worrying going on right now about other stuff. Try to relax and enjoy it. It's such fun!
HIGHLY unlikely. Now if u DRANK the paint, that would be a different story, but u didn't, so don't sweat it, take care of yourself, eat right, avoid alcohol, take your vities, and get plenty of rest, because you won't be getting much in about 9 months!! :)
No you didn't, I painted my baby's room around 20 weeks pregnant. Paints these days aren't made with lead so they are much safer. Don't worry!!
nope latex paint is pretty safe....
unless you were eating it I would say you are pretty safe. I work in a salon and use chemicals all day long and my baby is healthy
Unless you were huffing it, this early on it wouldn't have hurt you or the baby. I wouldn't make it a habit though. Be safe, and good luck with the new baby. Congrats!
you never said how far along you are. I don't think you have a problem here but I would for sure take it easy and not do anything else like that. Make sure u also try to stay away from caffine. I heard that within the first couple of months of pregnancy caffine can really harm a baby also. Good luck
no, you should be fine. as long as you didn't get light headed and faint from it, i wouldn't even worry about it. you might mention it at your next ob appointment, but they'll probably say it's ok. congrats!
I'm sure you will be fine!!! think about all those baby's that survive with mothers that take drugs and sniff worse things than just paint. it was only once and as long as its not a recurring thing I'm sure your baby will be fine. Congratulations by the way... hope everything goes smoothly
You should be fine, if your 4 weeks PG then your baby was only conceived 2 weeks ago and has only really just implanted. I wouldn't worry too much and honestly you cannot do anything about it now. Just watch yourself from now on. All the best.
