I need some pointers and tips on how to paint well, what brushes i need, how much paint, how to do edges etc. Some1 please help me.I want to paint my bathroom and bedroom but Ive never painted b4 can any1 give me sometips?
firsly , you need to make sure the walls are in clean ,good

dust , free condition, then pick your paint out ,

you will need a water based primer , Kilns for your needs is the best brand , and it will give u some practice ,

i would use a 3in brush . gently dap into the paint can, and brush on .up and down , even strokes, over lapping by half every time,

one coat primer, let dry over night ,

then the same way with paint,

if you go to walmart and buy there one coat ,paint ,

you can use about 2 gallons for $ 40 for your bathroom

just take your time, as i said , use the primer as your practice. you really cant go wrong,

and with your paint , don't over load the brush , no drips

no problems,

one more thought , make sure you use blue tape to tape of any areas you don't need painted

any problem , email me OKI want to paint my bathroom and bedroom but Ive never painted b4 can any1 give me sometips?
Spend some time masking (with tape) off anything you don't want to get paint on, it is time consuming but in the end you will be glad you did. Anything you want to paint near...I wouldn't worry about the bathtub or toilet too much, but trim work, fixtures attached to the wall (if you can't take them off)...etc.
I do a lot of painting. First, bathroom and bedroom paints are different. For a bathroom, you want special paint called ';kitchen and bathroom paint';. Make sure the paint is a semi-gloss finish, latex, and is mildew/mold resistant. Lots of moisture in the bathroom, so its important to get the right paint and finish, or mildew grows quickly.

For the bedroom, you again want a latex paint, but this time you want a different finish. I recommend using an eggshell finish for the walls.

For the walls, you can choose any color you want, and the paint store will tint the paint for you. For the ceiling, go with white, and use the same finish as the walls mentioned before. For example, white semi-gloss in the bathroom, and white eggshell in the bedroom, or flat ceiling white.

Buy a good ';angled'; brush, about 2 1/2 inches or so, for ';cutting'; the edges. You only need 1 brush, and just wash it under hot water until all the paint is out.

You'll also need a standard roller and roller covers, I like the 1/4'; nap. Get a few of these, and don't bother washing them, just throw them away when you're done. A roller extention will be helpful to reach high places. You can buy one, but most broom handles with a threaded end will work with the roller, so you probably can find one in the house/garage. Take off all outlet covers and light switch plates and put them back when the paint is dry.
