i'm afraid I'll get paint all over the place and won't be able to get it off. I'm worried the paint won't look even and it will look worse than it does now. Right now it's just plain white, but I'd like some color in there. Please help me out.I want to paint my bathroom and bedroom, but am worried I'll screw it up. Can you encourage me?
One of the most important things to do is take the time to fill and sand any holes first. Make sure the walls are smooth and clean before you start. Use lots of masking tape. Paint will not cover cracks, holes etc. If the condition of the wall looks good before you paint, it will look great after you paint. Don't be afraid.Start by painting all around the edges, along the ceiling and in all the corners with a 2 or 3 inch wide brush. When the edges are done use a roller to fill in over the rest of the walls. You will learn by your mistakes, and we all make them. Just don't point them out to anybody and they won't notice them. You can do a job 3 times before it cost you as much as you would pay someone else to do it, so have fun and take pride in your accomplishments.I want to paint my bathroom and bedroom, but am worried I'll screw it up. There must be 500 websites out there for do-it-yourselfers that have instructions on how to do a good job painting.
It's not that complicated as long as you can be careful and not kick over a can of paint or slip and fall off a stepladder, and take some basic precautions against getting paint on furniture or woodwork, door and window frames, etc.
If you work with good light, and inspect your work as you go, the coverage should be uniform. You might need to do a second coat if you choose a very dark color, but that happens more often with cheap paint than it does with the top brands.
Don't worry about getting paint everywhere. Just make sure you use a latex paint, which cleans up with water. Put down plenty of drop cloths and use good painters tape to mask off any areas you don't want painted. Work in about 3ft. sections and roll with an X motion overlapping where you just painted. You will probably need at least two coats. Also, make sure to clean up any drips immediately. Good Luck!
Look up basic painting technics., keep it light coloured and take your time, you will do an acceptable job. I have never seen an uneven paint job!
Go for it!
take your time to mask it right first, after that you can't go wrong
