I want to paint my bathroom cabinets, I like the size of the cab nets, but not the color, It's not real wood.

I what to paint the cabnets a dark color, and use a high gloss finsh, what kind of paint should I use.I want to paint my bathroom cabinets, I like the size of the cab nets, but not the color, It's not real wood.
Start with a Kiltz primer, let that dry then put on 2 coats of a high gloss enamel in the color you like. I've found the people in the paint departments to be great help. Use a good brush. (you may want to put on a clear protective finish over that so it will stand up againts nicks and scratches better)I want to paint my bathroom cabinets, I like the size of the cab nets, but not the color, It's not real wood.

It really depends what the cabinets are made of... are they melamine? Pressboard? Veneer? Plastic? Depending on that, you can paint them, but you'll need to know what they are made of to be able to use the correct paint... If they are made of melamine, you'll need to use melamine paint, of plastic, they pretty much can't be painted with the paint guaranteed to stay, if they are pressboard or veneer, you can use a high gloss kitchen paint made especially for the kitchen for easy clean-up and mold resistant.

But I have another idea... Consider using car paint! Yep! Though car paint is about $60.00/gallon, it is a major investment, as it lasts forever, doesn't chip, is MEGA shiny, is sooooooooooo easy to keep clean, comes in some AMAZING colors (even metal-flake!) and can be amazing, especially in a kitchen that's aiming for a zen feeling! It is an amazing way to create the most stunning painted cabinets I have ever seen! It's also easier to paint than a car, so you can either have it done for you, or rent the equipment and do it yourself... it's a piece of cake! You'll love the look!
