My bathroom has cream walls. I recently painted them this past summer. I want a dark blue/gray horizontal stripe to go around the room. My bathroom is small. At most 6' by 8'. I keep seeing color ideas where the walls are a darker color and the strip is lighter. Does it really matter? Can I just paint the stripe a darker color than the walls? Please answer :)

You absolutely can do it the way you want. We recently painted a bedroom an icy steel blue and painted a dark chocolate stripe. It looked great! Good Luck and have fun!
You can paint it whatever color works.
it doesnt really matter though. as long as you have two different colors that you are painting on top of each other.
