Removing this old paint is possible with any paint stripper, but be prepared for a lot of work. You can paint over the old paint with epoxy paint. This type of paint is very thick and will also fill in old scars and scratches. Don't spill or make a mess with epoxy based paint for it is quite a cleanup job. Be careful when cleaning because you need to use carbo-tetrichloride and this product's fumes are dangerous. How can I remove old oil based paint from my bathroom counter top and some scratches?
zip strip paint remover, after, sand lightly and refinish as you like.
Just use Goof Off. Not Goo Gone, but Goof Off- it's stronger and won't damage the surface. Just be gentle. Mineral Spirits works well too.

Buy some chip and paint repair patch stuff from the Paint Department at Lowe's. It's made for appliances, and also for sinks. It comes in a little tiny bottle about the size of your thumb.
