How can I strip paint off of a bathroom door if it won't scrape off?

I have an interior bathroom door that was originally painted years ago. The paint was flaking off so we took it off and tried to scrape it off. The problem is that only some of the parts of the door with scrape off and now I have half old paint and half off. What can I use to take the rest of the paint off so that I can paint? If there isn't anything, do you think if I sand the edges and then prime and then paint it will look ok?How can I strip paint off of a bathroom door if it won't scrape off?
Paint remover available at any hardware store or lumber yard will do the trick. It can be kind of messy so it is best to take the door off and use the paint remover outside with the door laying flat.

I have stripped NUMEROUS layers of paint off of 100+ year old woodwork and furniture. How can I strip paint off of a bathroom door if it won't scrape off?
Use poli stripper, but turn on the ceiling fan and open a window if possible and wear gloves.A trick to doing this try to scratch the paint with your scraper and when you paint the stripper on let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes and only paint an area that you have time to work on .If you decide to just paint make sure that you sand really well or you will see the old paint lines. But if you are going to all the trouble of stripping the door why repaint it.If you have animals be very careful with the stripper and the paint chips they can burn paws
you could use a paint stripper or the best thing would be to go ahead and purchase a heat gun with a good old fashion 3in scraper and take it off that way you can find them in the paint dept at home depot. just heat up the paint and scrape it off and then sand it down to a smooth finish wear a dust mask of course because depending on how old the paint is might have lead.

good luck
You can buy a interior hollow core door blank for around 20.00....A gallon of stripper will cost you this much or more..plus all of the labor it takes to get it done..I would simply buy a new door blank and hinge it and put it on then paint..starting out with a new surface, the price is relatively the same..and alot less labor and mess involved
There are numerous environmentally safe paint strippers on the market which will do the job. The reason I mention the environmentally safe ones is that they generally don't require the user to done special attire for the project. Many of the products are citrus-based and once applied, soften the layers of paint and allow easy removal with a simple paint scraper. Very easy! Good luck!
Try a heat gun and putty knife. If that doesn't work, go to Home Depot and get a can of Stripeeze. This should get most of it, and you can sand the rest. Since you are this far, you will need to finish it. Hope this helps.
power sander
Use a hot air gun
yes. sanding and painting will look fine. i did my own just 3 weeks ago.
